Grace, I think this came out wonderfully. Like everyone else said, the whole thing is so technically sophisticated, and the lack of extraneous detail gives the piece a sense of supreme confidence. The black background is so dramatic, and I love the little "flares" that occur periodically along the linear form. As I said in class, I do think it would be stronger if the whole band were centered; you could easily correct this by adding some more lines below the orange strings on the right. Also, it might be nice to see some thin strings move upward and off the edge on the upper right of the piece like they do at the bottom -- perhaps in purple? Finally, what about a tiny hint of purple somewhere in the center panel. I think the color here is strong the way it is; I just think it might be nice to have a little more purple in the piece as a whole. Overall, great demonstration of the power of simplicity!
I thought this piece was incredibly, incredibly well done. Your gradual blending of color looks very professional. And I'm impressed that you were able to take such very minor color changes and make them pop as individual strands from such similar colors immediately behind them.
