  1. The idea of a sea monster becoming something different to lure saloirs in has always been an interesting one. You've managed to make this super creepy, and though its a complete scene, it leaves us trying to guess what might happen next.

  2. Grace, what a playful and slightly creepy piece. I love the little figures up in the trees and down below. For me, the thing that makes this narrative most intriguing is that shape that looks like it's cutting through the boat. I'm not at all sure what that is, and I enjoy speculating. Whatever it is, it looks menacing! All the deep black adds to the slightly ominous quality of the drawing. Compositionally, I wouldn't mind seeing a small piece of what somewhere on the lower left -- perhaps continue that stone (?) down into the black as a negative shape. I also really like how the composition is divided into little windows of activity -- very clever.

  3. I really like this, it reminds me a bit of the movie Princess Mononoke with the mysterious forest creatures watching the humans in a way that's cute but also a little creepy. I enjoy the slight suggestions of creatures coming out of the trees and ground, I get the sense that there's really dozens of them. I think the trees and the boat define the waterline enough that you don't even need the lines on its surface, and erasing them might add to its dreamlike quality.

  4. Wow Grace this piece just looks so cohesive overall. I can't think of a single aspect of it compositionally that seems like it does not belong here. Also, the piece raises a lot of questions about what is going on which is what makes it so interesting to look at.
