Celia cutout

  1. Celia, this piece is very dynamic and engaging. It seems that there's a figure in a space that reminds me of a Japanese rock garden, but then there's all this activity in what would be the sky that complicates the narrative (in a good way). I get the feeling of some kind of deity looking down on the figure -- a benevolent deity. I like that I can't really know. While the piece is relatively busy, I think you've handled the negative and positive shapes very well. I can't think of anything that should be omitted, as all that activity in the sky area is what's giving the piece its dynamism -- my eye just keeps moving through and around the whole composition.

  2. I think this has a good balance of recognizable and unrecognizable shapes. The bridge, figure, and face are immediately visible and draw the eye in, and then as you look at it more shapes become clear. The movement of the lines also makes it very interactive. It feels like an illustration.

  3. I feel like because theres so much going on in the piece, there are some places you could have omitted like the hair on the top left.
I really like the graphic look of your piece. Its obvious there is a story and it makes me interested in trying to figure it out :D
